Woo-Hoo! Progress!!

Not only progress, but a little extra "shove" to boot!

Today the doctor informed me that I had dilated to 1cm, and was 70% effaced. Yay! Go me! I think my doctor was as excited as I was (because I had just gotten done telling her that I still didn't think I had any progress yet, and that I fully expected to pass up my due date by a week or more.) So, while 1cm certainly isn't a lot, 70% is a pretty good start.

She gave me an extra little "shove" in the direction of labor by stripping the membranes (that means separating the amniotic sac from the cervix). Apparently, it is not uncommon for labor to start within 48 hours of membranes being stripped. YIKES!!!!!

While that's not always the case and it's possible that the membrane stripping will do nothing (read: don't get your hopes up TOO high!), Doc sounded fairly confident that I would deliver this little angel this weekend... Stay tuned...
