Library Fun!

With my new schedule, I get the best of both worlds: I get to work and contribute to our household and spend time with adults (even if some of them are the less-than-desirable-types), and I also get to be a stay-at-home mom (or SAHM, as we refer to them in cyber-mom world) part of the time. The other day was a SAHM day, and I totally felt the part, and it felt great!

Logan and I got up and had breakfast, made it out of the house and attended our first Baby Storytime at the local public library. It was a last-minute decision to go, and boy was I glad we did!

We listened to the Library Lady read books about animals. And we sang lots of songs and recited rhymes and clapped a lot (which was great because we've been teaching Logan to clap for the past week, so I think this helped him see different situations where it's appropriate to clap, and he's getting better at it, too!). He had so much fun and was all grins and giggles the whole time.

And then, the Library Lady dumped out a HUGE bucket of toys in the middle of the circle we were sitting in. WOW! There was one baby, he looked to be a couple months older than Logan, who was quick as lightening getting to the middle of the circle and those toys. But I'm super proud to say we have a mighty social baby on our hands, because wouldn't you know it - our very own Logan was the SECOND baby (by a fraction of a second) in the middle of the circle grabbing for toys to play with!! He had an absolute ball! He loved playing with all the toys and seeing and interacting with all the other babies (I guess there were about a dozen babies in all, each under a year old).

He's such a polite boy, too. I saw him eyeballing this particular toy that a younger baby girl was playing with. He was sitting right next to her, and I fully expected him to just reach over and grab it up and start playing with it, but he never did. A little while later, he noticed that she was no longer playing with it, so he mosey'd on over and checked it out for himself. Now, isn't that just the kindest, most polite almost-7-month old you've ever seen?

And do you want to know the best part of this Library Baby Storytime? It's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! I am so impressed and excited to go back! Books are so important to me and have had such a big place in my life ever since I was teeny-tiny, and one of my biggest hopes for Logan is that he will come to love books as much as I do. And, libraries are just awesome. I'm going to check out the libraries in some of the neighboring towns to see if they have the same thing on different days - we will take complete advantage if we can, and will try to go once a week, schedule permitting.

Here's a couple snapshots of the toy-fun:
